The streets surrounding the Araneta Center once again burst into festive revelry as the 24 lovely official candidates of Binibining Pilipinas 2010 waved to the cheering crowd during the premier lifestyle hub's annual Parade of Beauties. The event coincides with the Araneta Coliseum's 50th Anniversary--the pageant's venue for the highly anticipated Coronation Night on March 6.
Clad in chic gold-hued swimwear, the candidates toured the Center onboard sporty Mazda Miata cars. Reigning queens Pamela Bianca Manalo (2009 Bb. Pilipinas Universe), Melody Gersbach (2009 Bb. Pilipinas International) and Marie Ann Umali (2009 Bb. Pilipinas World) looked regal atop a Greek-inspired float. the Philippine Navy and Marine Drum and Bugle bands provided the lively accompaniment, while drum beaters, poi dancers, mimes, fire eaters, and other street performers wowed spectators lined up along the streets of Araneta Center. Motorcycle riders of Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Dairy Queen added to the festive mood.
The annual parade is the penultimate activity for the candidates before they go through the final stage of the competition to clinch the three major pageant titles. The annual Binibining Pilipinas pageant is the major fundraising project of the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI), which for the last 46 years continues to bring the message of hope and love across the nation. BPCI is the official fanchise holder of the Miss International, Miss Universe, and Miss World beauty pageants. True to BPCI's mission, the young ladies involved with Binibining Pilipinas show that real beauty lies within, as they pursue projects that help improve the lives of the underprivileged members of society.
With this year's batch of the country's loveliest young ladies as official candidates, Binibining Pilipinas continues to carry on not only its heritage of producing world-class winners, but also serving as the gateway to many meaningful opportunities to prove that real beauty is truly beyond skin deep.
The parade was also graced by the winners of the 2010 Mr. World Philippines Pageant headed by Alvin De Joya (Mr. World Philippines 2010) along with Jericho Intacto (1st Runner-Up) and Jason Villegas (2nd Runner-Up).
Missosology.Org would like to extend its heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Sir Gus, Ms. Jenny Marcial, and the staff of the Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc. (BPCI) for allowing our official correspondents JP Anonuevo and RL Lacanienta as well as the rest of the media officially covering the pageant to enter the south gate to have photo-ops with the candidates as they board the cars before parading in the streets.
